Help with the furniture, without booking transport

1300 On The Move welcomes labour-only enquiries in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. You might need household furniture loaded into your own hired truck, unloaded from a storage container, moved between rooms or carried between units in one apartment complex. Truck transport is not included unless separately agreed.

Describe where each item starts and where you want it placed. Even within one complex, the route may involve lifts, stairs, gates or a long carry. Say whether you need loading, unloading, on-site moving or a combination, rather than simply asking for a small move.

What to include in your enquiry

• Your suburb, preferred date and arrival window; explain any lift booking or access deadline.
• A furniture and box inventory, item dimensions and approximate weights where known. Flag unusually heavy or awkward pieces.
• Stairs, lift and doorway dimensions, tight turns, parking and the carrying distance to the truck, container or destination room.
• Clear photos of the larger items and access route. Mention any dismantling, reassembly or protection you want included.

A 20ft or 40ft container needs an actual inventory

Container size alone does not establish the labour needed. A 40ft household container holding mostly boxes is different from one packed with large furniture. List the contents, their sizes and where they need to go, including whether furniture is already packed or needs preparation.

Palletised or commercial freight and specialist lifting need assessment before acceptance. Do not assume a household moving crew can handle every load or supply specialist equipment.

• Explain the container placement and whether access is at ground level or on a trailer, including the height and approach.
• Confirm when it can be opened, its arrival window and how long it will remain available.
• Say which end needs a crew: loading at origin, unloading at destination or both. Separate locations need separate access details.

Agree the complete job before booking

Confirm the movers, equipment, furniture protection, placement and agreed scope. Ask what waiting time, travel and minimum charges apply, and agree the total before booking. If the inventory or access changes, discuss the revised work and price before it proceeds.

You must coordinate the vehicle or container being available and ready for the agreed work window. Confirm any separate transport and insurance arrangements with the relevant provider; labour help does not replace those arrangements.
